On Sunday, October 15, 2017 Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC) will recognize National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day by encouraging non-profit organizations and health departments to enhance their outreach to Latinx communities, promote HIV testing, and provide HIV prevention information and access to care. We know that Latinx individuals represent approximately 17 percent of the U.S. population, but account for an estimated 21 percent of people living with HIV and an estimated 24 percent of all persons with newly diagnosed infections. The HIV diagnosis rate among Latinx individuals is more than three times that among White/Caucasian individuals.
